San Francisco de Geronimo RC Catholic School

San Francisco de Geronimo RC Catholic School – This school building has been condemned, yet it remains in use. In remote areas like this, condemnation orders are often unenforced, leaving students to learn in unsafe and deteriorating conditions. With no other available space, these students at San Francisco de Geronimo RC School attend class in the kitchen area.

This eight-classroom building has been condemned and is so unstable it could collapse in a strong wind. However, due to a lack of available space, two classrooms are still being used by students. A teacher has reported the presence of vampire bats in the building, which are common in rural areas of Belize.

Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Dangriga, Stann Creek District

Sacred Heart RC Primary School, Dangriga, Stann Creek District –  This building, which houses 10 classrooms, has suffered severe damage. Half of the ceilings had to be torn out due to infestations of bats, possums, raccoons, and extensive termite activity. The stench of animal urine and waste made parts of the school unsafe for students and staff. The remaining half of the building is likely facing similar issues. The condition of the school is deeply concerning, and the children deserve a much safer and healthier learning environment.

The Special Education building at Holy Ghost RC School in Dangriga

Holy Ghost RC School, Dangriga, Stann Creek District – The Special Education building at Holy Ghost RC School has been condemned, forcing Special Ed students to relocate into the lunchroom. As a result, the school no longer has a functioning cafeteria. Several toilets have fallen into disrepair and now sit abandoned, leaving only two working toilets available for 317 children.

San Luis Rey RC School, Toledo District – This three-classroom building at San Luis Rey RC School has been condemned due to a disintegrating roof, caused by relentless rains and poor construction.
