On Friday February 13, 27,000 Catholic Schools Children across Belize participated in our annual Little Lighthouse Love Walk. Last year a cancelled flight left me stranded in Atlanta during the Walk. This year I was on the ground here in Punta Gorda and what a walk we had! From pre-schoolers to our oldest kids, our children were all decked out in red, carrying signs that said, “We love our Catholic Schools.” The march stretched on for a half mile with music playing, paraders dancing and everyone singing. It was the biggest parade ever seen in Punta Gorda that I can remember. Reports from around the country were all the same, full participation and great spirit.
And now my Kansas City friend, Kim Meyers, has caught the fever.
Like the children, Kim is inspired by the Lighthouse Ride and our mission, but rather than cycling, Kim will walk across the state of Missouri on the KATY Trail. God bless you Kim and happy trekking. The children and families of the Catholic Primary Schools of Belize thank you too.
